I just love that Sen. Inhofe had the cojones to place the Weekly Standard cover featuring a cartoon of naked Al Gore next to him for his speech yesterday.

Nice exchange at The Corner earlier today between Jay Nordlinger and Robert Costa. First Nordlinger (bold is all mine):

…I was talking with a very smart political-social analyst yesterday. The subject of global warming came up. It has been a bad, bad several months for the global-warming crowd. My friend said, “Wouldn’t it be something if the most adamant ‘deniers’ — not the moderate ‘skeptics,’ but the adamant ‘deniers,’ such as Senator Inhofe — turned out to be absolutely correct?”

Yes, wouldn’t that be something? Sometimes one of the “extreme” positions is the correct one. But if global warming did indeed prove to be a crock, the world would just glide on, as though nothing had happened — just as it did when the coming ice age proved to be a crock, when the mass food shortages proved to be a crock, when the . . .”

Always, always, on to the next alarm, without a murmur of apology, or moment of self-reflection, or backward glance.

To which Costa replies, perfectly capturing the essence of why Inhofe is so effective:

Jay — One of the things I like about Inhofe is his sense of humor. Sure, he’s an “adamant denier,” but he does it with a smile. The other side seems to grimace on, blogs against the current. Six years ago, when Inhofe was in Milan, green activists were so infuriated by his mere presence that they papered “Wanted” posters with his picture across the conference center, emblazoned with his famous quote about global warming: “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people.” His quip: That was the “first time the environmentalists have ever quoted me accurately.”Just recently, in December, Inhofe led a “truth squad” at the Copenhagen climate summit. Mother Jones, for one, was not amused. Not that Inhofe cares. He who laughs best . . .

I like that aspect of the Senator too. While Joe Romm and his angry comrades stomp their feet, Inhofe calls out the “greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American public” with a grandfatherly wink and smile. As I’ve said often on this blog – skeptics have more fun.

Video: Sen. Inhofe calls for Climategate investigation; ‘it appears that the basis of federal programs, pending EPA rulemakings, and cap-and-trade legislation was contrived and fabricated’

Senator Inhofe was ridiculed for famously stating that catastrophic global warming was “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people“. As it turns out, he was right all along.  He’s been on a roll of late.

You go Senator!

Obama’s Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu: "We’re looking at a scenario where there’s no more agriculture in California."

By Editor Sen. Inhofe, Steven Chu Comments Off on Obama’s Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu: "We’re looking at a scenario where there’s no more agriculture in California."

Steven Chu has gone insane. The LA Times reports:

Reporting from Washington — California’s farms and vineyards could vanish by the end of the century, and its major cities could be in jeopardy, if Americans do not act to slow the advance of global warming, Secretary of Energy Steven Chu said Tuesday.

I don’t think the American public has gripped in its gut what could happen,” he said. “We’re looking at a scenario where there’s no more agriculture in California.” And, he added, “I don’t actually see how they can keep their cities going” either.

Meantime, other Warmers are ecstatic that Chu is talking nonsense:

“To say the least, it’s a breath of fresh air,” said Bernadette Del Chiaro, who directs the clean air and global warming program for Environment California. “We’ve been worried about the impacts of global warming for years, even decades. He’s absolutely right — California stands to lose so much in our way of life.”

Inhofe brushes it all aside:

Global warming skeptics were not swayed. “I am hopeful Secretary Chu will take note of the real-world data, new studies and the growing chorus of international scientists that question his climate claims,” Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), the top Republican on the Environment and Public Works Committee, said in a statement. “Computer model predictions of the year 2100 are simply not evidence of a looming climate catastrophe.”

It’s a very fine line, Senator.

climatebrad on YouTube:

On Fox News January 14, Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) is interviewed by Megyn Kelly on President-elect Barack Obama’s new energy and climate adviser, Carol Browner. Citing an article in the Washington Times and an editorial in the Examiner newspapers that question Browner’s involvement in the Socialist International’s Commission for a Sustainable World Society. Kelly calls her “one of fourteen leaders of this socialist group,” “pretty committed to socialist policies.” Kelly also confuses “global government” with “global governance.”
