From the YouTube notes:

John and Ken (John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou) of KFI AM 640 in Los Angeles interview KPAY weather reporter Anthony Watts (also of wattsupwiththat.com) about the flaws in the data used to record and project global warming. Apparently, there were significant flaws in how the temperatures were measured (approximately 90% of the temperature stations in the U.S. were located within just a few feet of external heat sources, corrupting and altering the data).

More evidence of global cooling: Not only is it snowing in Texas, it’s actually snowing on WATTS UP WITH THAT?!!!

Check it out, and bring your sled. The alarmists will say that it’s just anecdotal evidence, of course. 😉

Climate scientist: "Why isn’t the cooling Antarctic considered ‘an indicator of what might happen to the rest of the world?’" That’s a good question.

By Editor Antarctica, Anthony Watts, Arctic ice Comments Off on Climate scientist: "Why isn’t the cooling Antarctic considered ‘an indicator of what might happen to the rest of the world?’" That’s a good question.

Checking around the AGW skeptic blogosphere, it seems Anthony Watts’ latest post, Arctic Ice Reality Check, has been linked to by many on this lazy Saturday, but the above question jumped out at me as a particularly relevant question that should be asked more often.

Anthony Watts: Al Gore demonstrates he doesn’t understand basic meteorology, much less climate.

By Editor Al Gore, Anthony Watts, floods, tornadoes Comments Off on Anthony Watts: Al Gore demonstrates he doesn’t understand basic meteorology, much less climate.

On the other hand, he could be lying.

Watts Up With That?:

Gore links Iowa floods and tornadoes to climate change, but makes a basic error on global temperature to evaporation linkage, plus he misses the real reason behind imagined tornado increases.

[Excerpt: In a recent article in the Des Moines Register, Al ] Gore attributed
the historic floods that devastated Iowa in June to man-made emissions causing
more water to evaporate from oceans, increasing average humidity worldwide. “In
66 of your 99 counties, the flood damage was truly historic.” Gore told the
crowd of 1,000 Democratic donors. “No one has ever seen a flood like this.” Gore
also blamed climate change for increased tornadoes, including the one that
leveled much of Parkersburg earlier this year. “Yes, we’ve always had tornadoes
in Iowa and in Tennessee,” he said. “But they’re coming more frequently and
they’re stronger.”

In my opinion, the biggest error Gore makes is that water vapor in the atmosphere (and water cycle) has a much shorter residence time than his worrisome CO2; days to weeks from evaporation to precipitation, and thus would not be linked to “warming” now, since warming has subsided globally.

Read the entire post here. The comments section is highly recommended, as it seems that Gore is becoming a larger laughingstock as time passes and the temperature continues to go down.

Video: Anthony Watts appearing on Hannity’s America discussing his Surface Station Project

By Editor Anthony Watts, Surface Stations Project Comments Off on Video: Anthony Watts appearing on Hannity’s America discussing his Surface Station Project

Anthony Watts recently appeared on Hannity’s America discussing his Surface Station Project, which shows the surface station data to be very unreliable due to poor siting of a majority of the surface stations, i.e. next to parking lots, next to air conditioning exhausts, or on roofs. Since the temperature data is biased towards higher temperatures, that’s what makes the information so useful to Al Gore, James Hansen, et al.

Watts Up With That’s note to NASA: Fire Dr. James Hansen, now.

By Editor Anthony Watts, James Hansen Comments Off on Watts Up With That’s note to NASA: Fire Dr. James Hansen, now.

Anthony Watts writes:

I’ve been wrestling with this topic for hours now as to how to best present it in this forum. I finally decided to simply just write it as I see it.

It has been an ugly day for law and common sense in the world. Vandalism in the name of ecological causes is now “ok” thanks in part to Dr. James Hansen, of NASA GISS coming to the defense of eco-vandals. See the second story below. Now, encouraged by this “victory” that gives a sanction to eco-vandalism in the UK, how many more shall we see? And if one of these people is injured and kills themselves or others in the process of the next stunt? What then? Who is responsible?

Certainly I want a cleaner world, and better energy resources with focus on the future. But, sanctioning vandalism for these causes is not the way to get there. What do I want from NASA as a taxpayer? Science, solutions, and inspiring ideas turned into reality. I don’t want political activism in the name of science.

Certainly Dr. Hansen has a body of work that is impressive, there is no disputing that. But it is time for Dr. Jim Hansen to go. Thanks to him, GISS as a dataset is no longer impartial. We have potential bias from the gatekeeper of the data that can’t be separated from the data. If he can come to the defense of lawbreakers in the name of his global warming cause, then it is an even easier jump to allow that same bias to creep into scientific data he is responsible for and his conclusions drawn from that data.

Emergency sunspot sighted two weeks ago

By Editor Anthony Watts, solar cycles, sun spots Comments Off on Emergency sunspot sighted two weeks ago

Via Global Warming: A Worn-Out Hoax:

Actually, 0.5 sunspots, as it were. A scientist in Sicily just remembered he saw it.

Relax, warmests! Absence of sunspots, which items have no role whatever in the Earth’s climate (only cabon emitted by man can do it) has not occurred.

Maybe sunspot numbers should be corrected just like temperature records. Makes perfect sense, no?

Necessity again is the mother of invention.

Story here.
