No cap & trade!

No cap & trade!

Each month GORE LIED takes significant liberties with Dr. Roy Spencer’s globally averaged satellite-based temperatures and marks up the good doctor’s graph with a red marker to illustrate Al Gore’s personal inconvenient truth – that global temperatures have gone down, rather than up (as Al Gore and the IPCC predicted) since An Inconvenient Truth was released on January 24, 2006 at the Sundance Film Festival.

For the record, this month’s Al Gore / AIT Index indicates that global temperatures have plunged approximately .74°F (.39°C) since An Inconvenient Truth was released.

GORE LIED has been posting the Al Gore/ AIT Index since June, 2008.  In that time the globally averaged temperatures have never been higher than they were when An Inconvenient Truth was released. Not one single month!

UPDATE: The Al Gore / AIT Index has inspired a cartoon!

  1. Hi.

You make a good point. Although the period is too short for revealing any significant trends, it must be, at the least, annoying for Gore and his accolytes to see no climatic confirmation of their scare-mongering.

Just a point I should mention: You say “the globally averaged temperatures have never been higher than they were when An Inconvenient Truth was released.” Yet the UAH graph you show displays a peak of about +0.6°C in early 2007, during the period of your red line and higher than its beginning.

Is that what you mean to say?

Keep up your important gadfly annoyingness!

      Actually my entire quote reads:

It is interesting to note that GORE LIED has been posting the Al Gore/ AIT Index since June, 2008, and the globally averaged temperatures have never been higher than they were when An Inconvenient Truth was released. Not one single month!

So, yes, I did mean to say that. My point was that since I’ve been posting the monthly Al Gore/AIT Index since June, 2008, the temperature has always been below what it was when AIT was released. I was aware that there was a very brief spike for perhaps 2-3 months in early ’07. Perhaps I could have worded that a little better so that there was no confusion. And I will. I’ll add the word “since” before the name of the blog in that quote, and remove the word “the” after “June, 2008″. That should clear things up.

“Keep up your important gadfly annoyingness!” LOL! Thanks! I’ll definitely take that as a compliment.

Thanks for reading the blog, and come back often.

You’re exactly right that this period of time is too short for revealing any significant trends, and I’ll be the first to admit that. But, I think it’s just hilarious that the trend is down. Al Gore said it would go up – now. Not in ten years – now. And it isn’t. LOL! It may go up again, and likely will. But, it will also may go down some more. Que sera, sera!

I think it’s just miraculous how Mr. Gore, after inventing the Internet, single-handedly stopped a planetary catastrophe by releasing a movie, so scaring the evil forces of CO2 that they flew off to warm other planets instead (like Mars, for instance). I admire his confidence, spending $4 million on a Fisherman’s Wharf condo just feet from the Pacific, and increasing his net worth from $2 million in 2000 to over $100 million by brokering carbon credits in Europe. That is, after all, the very least a grateful planet can do for him…

      Craig Goodrich,

Yes, it is “miraculous how Mr. Gore, after inventing the Internet, single-handedly stopped a planetary catastrophe by releasing a movie”. ;)

But why is he still yelling global warming climate change climate crisis?

One would think that this 11 years of cooling would give Al Gore pause, and cause him to reflect upon what he’s been saying preaching, and that it just might be — wrong.

Many thanks for reading the blog, and for your comment.

  3. You did notice that AlGoreLied is quoted in the lead spot on Marc Morano’s Climate Depot, yes?

      Richard,

Yes, I did notice the Climate Depot link. When I first started this index, I thought that if the temps continued their downward trend, that the Al Gore/AIT Index may get some traction on a larger stage, and be one factor in getting people to wake up to reality.

Lots of regular folks don’t have the time or the inclination to learn much about the science of global warming climate change the climate crisis “our deteriorating atmosphere”, but show them this month’s Al Gore / AIT Index – and they will get that.

Joe Romm, on his blog Climate Progress, tries to marginalize bloggers like myself by calling us “anti-science”. To the contrary, I’d say that Romm et al are “anti-reality”.

  5. Arno Arrak says:

The oresent cooling shown by satellite data is part of the La Nina cooling that terminated the twenty-first century high. There have been only two warming incidents since the middle of the twentieth century – the 1998 super El Nino and the twenty-first century high, a cluster of warm years from 2001 to 2007 when temperature stagnated at El Nino maximum. Neither was caused by carbon dioxide. But that is all over and the La Nina we experience now has put an end to it. The IPCC model makers, however, thought the warming was all due to their favorite gas and can’t understand where it went or why their predictions are all coming out wrong. They are coming out wrong because they never understood what was going on. What caused the warming was an unusual injection of warm Indian Ocean water into the Pacific that brought us a supernumerary El Nino in 1998 and the twenty first century high. But all that is over now and ENSO – an alternation of warm El Nino and cool La Nina periods – will control our weather from now on. The bottom line: carbon dioxide theory of warming is toast and is ready for the ash heap of history.

P.S. That “Mt. Pinatubo Cooling” on your chart is not due to Mount Pinatubo but is simply a regular La Nina phase of ENSO that controlled our weather before the 1998 super El Nino arrived. Warmists invented this fiction because that cooling was already off their charts. They got lucky when that super El Nino and twenty-first century high came along but their luck has just run out.

      Arno,

Dr. Roy Spencer (and his partner Dr. John Christy to, I suppose) are the ones who indicated the “Mt. Pinatubo cooling” that you say corresponded with a regular La Nina phase of ENSO. I only embellished (in bright red) their monthly UAH temperature graph.

  6. John Blake says:

In 1961 Edward Lorenz introduced Chaos Theory with the comment, “Does the Earth have a climate? At first glance obvious, the question improves on acquaintance.” Lorenz’s thesis, as readers may recall, was that complex systems are non-random but indeterminate. Sensitive dependence on initial conditions –the Butterfly Effect– guarantees not only that phenomena compound from circumstances altogether too ephemeral, too minuscule, to be detected, but that events in early phases typically cancel or reinforce by chance alone.

As information systems improved, Benoit Mandelbrot of IBM employed Lorenz’s insight to depict “fractional dimensions,” fractals, strange geometric figures self-similar on every scale. In dynamic vs. static mode these directly derive Chaos Theory, producing not cyclical but definitely periodic patterns that tend to ends unpredictable in mathematical principle. Allied with Lorenz’s “strange attractors” (“strange” because well-defined but incommensurable), Mandelbrot’s “fractals” reveal Nature as a complex iterative system amenable to computer imaging in sophisticated simulations.

As chaotic processes, Nature’s complex, iterative “fractal” systems intrinsically entail two features. First, they are unpredictable even in principle; second, all are highly structured, tending to exhibit norms which may flip from one aspect to its opposite without warning on any scale, at any time.

This means that climatology is descriptive only, capable of dealing in hindsight alone. Formulating testable hypotheses, designing requisite experiments repeatable by experts is not possible. Like botany, which supports Darwinian evolutionary processes of growth-and-change, climatology is but an adjunct of astro- and atmospheric physics, geophysics (plate tectonics, volcanism et al.), any number of other empirical scientific disciplines.

For climate cultists such as Gore, Hanson, the hyper-fraudulent Mann –who to this day cower from debate, classify their specious methodologies, withhold base-data to conceal corrupt “adjustments”– to project any medium or long-term scenarios whatever is prima facie evidence of a rampant con. Going on half-a-century, researchers of integrity all know that Lorenz and Mandelbrot combine to render any such extrapolations mathematically and physically impossible.

Gore and his acolytes are not right or wrong,, but dishonest and stupid. Dishonest, because they assert as fact what manifestly cannot be known or even forecast; stupid, because Nature as an objective reality will very soon expose their foolish propaganda for the extraordinarily contentious and destructive Luddite sociopathology it is.

Over 1.8 million years, Pleistocene ice ages lasting on average 102,000 years have occurred regularly as clockwork, interspersed with interglacial periods of median 12,250 years. Our current Holocene Interglacial Epoch began some 14,400 – 13,700 years-before-present (YBP), set back 1,500 years by the Younger Dryas “cold shock” beginning BC 8800. On this basis, the Holocene is overdue to end at any time; in fact, AD 2000 + (12,250 – 12,300) = AD 1950.

Geophysical cycles are never overly precise, but a looming 70-year Maunder Minimum gives little grounds for optimism. Ice Time may be just around the corner, and here we sit: No expanded nuclear capacity for generations; no U.S. exploitation of vast petroleum reserves; our mundane coal industry rated a “death factory” by ranting leftist ideologues.

Good job, Al. You and your freaks join J.B. Rhine, Trofim Lysenko, Immanuel Velikhovsky; Wilhelm Reich and L. Ron Hubbard in the pantheon of monstrous scamsters. The difference is, your self-righteous pork-meisters access the public purse. Bung Toro (our General Secretary’s real name) fills his socialist cesspool with trillion-dollar a month deficits far as the eye can see. Too bad we have to die.

No more nonsensical than Al Gore blaming every single hurricane on man-made global warming. No more so than any other use of anecdotal evidence offered up by Al Gore and the Warmers. I’ll be the first to admit it, but two can play at that game. And I am. But, the difference is, I’m having much more fun playing it than Al Gore and the Warmers!

As an ordinary US citizen with the curiosity to research the subject, in an attempt to find the truth, it is refreshing to find a website/blog that reveals facts rather than speculation. In my opinion, “WE” the people of the earth have no intelligent way of knowing what the temperature trend of the planet is. “WE” have not been here long enough to know if there is a trend or not. On top of that “WE” have not had the ability to keep records of earths temperature for even 5000 ths of our time here.
Again, my opinion is that meterologist would need to keep records for maybe another 10,000 years and when there is a spike or dip in the temparature, document what may have caused it. Such as Sun Spots, volcanic eruptions etc.
Thank You for reading. It would be great to know if you think this makes sense!
