Joe Romm asks his readers, “What are you doing to prepare for climate impacts?”  The beneficial-molecule-fearing Rommulans obediently reply in droves.  One particular comment from a warmist blogger goes a bit beyond the question Romm posed, and predicts a very dark solution for an imagined future climate hell:

I’ll also predict that laws permitting euthanasia will become commonplace in about two decades. The world will have to choose between keeping the old and ill fed and alive, and keeping the young and fit fed and alive. (Hopefully I’m exaggerating slightly in the second sentence, but maybe not.)

So, he might be exaggerating a bit about the choice of exactly who to euthanize, but he’s not exaggerating about the actual euthanasia itself.

Some of these people have lost their minds.

The 10:10 video was an omen, not a misstake.

Green is the new RED. These people have no respect for human life.

Seriously though, some people are far too brainwashed to make intelligent comments. Those people usually agree with guys like Gore and Romm.

Since resources will be scarce, those who should be euthanized first are those who fear ‘The End’ the most. So bye, bye Warmer blogger. Bye, bye Joe Romm.

Starvation has rarely affected the older population in history, they had the farm land and young strong sons to guard it. Starvation (natural anyway) kills poor landless people and children too young to feed themselves. I’m sure the Greens/reds can change that, like they starved the Ukraine in the 30’s. It’s still called murder in my book not euthanasia.

Do you really think a 40 year old ex marine is going to let some panel decide to cut off food to his 60 plus year old mom.. so a pimple faced 13 year old can play computer games on the public food dole? Lots might happen but that #$%@ isn’t.

…prepare for climate impacts….. “impacts” being the operative word.

If the next ice age doesn’t get us first, I expect the only impacts of concern will be asteroid (or comet). About the best you can do, if you’re lucky enough to see it coming is RUN !

I wonder if our carbon fearing genius actually thought deep enough to do the math and discover his own predicament in 20 years. Probably not, these are the same Einsteins who believe in static climates, and and have not imagined themselves past the age of thirty.

They want your food. They want your money. They want your cars. I’ve often thought that the absence of all the predicted pandemics was because we were all driving to work by ourselves and not crammed into buses and subways passing the germs around. And living in suburbia and not in tenements.

Wondered what the visits from this blog were all about. For those who don’t know, AFAIK, euthanasia is legal in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, and at least two states in the USA – Washington and Oregon. It is also partially though not explicitly legal in many more places by default, where people can legally deny medical treatment.

Of course, most people are aware that euthanasia is not at all uncommon in hospitals and aged care facilities usually by staff injecting just enough extra painkillers to induce death – usually but not always only a few days or hours sooner than otherwise.

If the world continues in the quest of many to ruin the global climate, IMO there will be an increasing number of older people who will prefer to shorten their life rather than slowly die through ill health and starvation. Many will choose to do so for the sake of their children and grandchildren – so as to be less of a burden. The current pretence at abhorrence of euthanasia laws will disappear as young people will increasingly look with envy at resources consumed by the elderly. (A perusal of many internet discussions shows that young people, as always, put all the blame for the ills of the world on the shoulders of older generations; and vie for any benefits/resources allocated to older people. It’s not much of a leap for younger people to permit older people to get help if they want to commit suicide.)

If weather disasters continue to get worse because of carbon emissions, in some places I believe that there would be triage that will work in favour of the young and fit, when food, water and medicine become scarce or non-existent.

@ Tatiana – yes, I agree that will probably happen. In the USA, for example, some people have called for climate scientists to be put in front of a firing squad. In the downfall of civilisations and in corrupt regimes, it has been the academics, teachers, professionals and intellectuals who have been killed or sent to labour camps. Ignorant rabble fear knowledge and blame the messengers.
