The “blind squirrel” Al Gore found another proverbial nut this month, although he was graciously aided by the continuation of the 2009/2010 El Niño.

Each month, upon the release of Dr. Roy Spencer’s UAH Globally Averaged Satellite-Based Temperatures of the Lower Atmosphere, the GORE LIED graphics department takes out a purple crayon, and marks up the good doctor’s graph to show the temperature change Al Gore since Al Gore released his fantasy/sci-fi movie, An Inconvenient Truth:

For the record, through December, 2009, globally averaged temperatures have risen .669°F (.372°C) since An Inconvenient Truth was released at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2006. Despite this month’s rise, an astounding 40 out of the 49 months since An Inconvenient Truth was released have registered below what the globally averaged temperatures were in the month that IT was released – truly an inconvenient truth.

Snowmaggedon notwithstanding, file this volume of the monthly index under “Even a Blind Squirrel (Al Gore) Can Find a Nut Once in a While”.

For the record, through December, 2009, globally averaged temperatures have risen .641°F (.368°C) since An Inconvenient Truth was released at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2006. Despite the rise, this month marks the 40th out of the 48 months since An Inconvenient Truth was released that globally averaged temperatures have been less than they were when AIT was released – truly an inconvenient truth.

So, what’s to explain the spike in temperatures? Not the much hyped “warming in the pipeline“, but the strongest El Niño in a decade.

Each month, upon the release of Dr. Roy Spencer’s UAH Globally Averaged Satellite-Based Temperatures of the Lower Atmosphere, the GORE LIED graphics department takes out a purple crayon, and marks up the good doctor’s graph. We do this to illustrate Al Gore’s personal inconvenient truth, that globally averaged temperatures have gone down since Al Gore released his fantasy/sci-fi movie, An Inconvenient Truth at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2006:

For the record, through December, 2009, globally averaged temperatures have gone down .158°F (.088°C) since An Inconvenient Truth was released at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2006. This marks the 40th out of the 47 months since An Inconvenient Truth was released that globally averaged temperatures have been less than they were when AIT was released. Truly an inconvenient truth.

For the record, through October, 2009, globally averaged temperatures have risen .230°F (.128°C) since An Inconvenient Truth was released at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2006. The larger trend shows that 39 out of the 48 months since An Inconvenient Truth was released globally averaged temperatures have been less than they were when AIT was released. Truly inconvenient.

AIT Index 10_09

Each month the GORE LIED graphic department marks up Dr. Roy Spencer’s monthly UAH Globally Averaged Satellite-Based Temperature of the Lower Troposphere graph to illustrate graphically the change in the earth’s temperature since Al Gore released An Inconvenient Truth on January 24, 2006 at the Sundance Film Festival.  This month, the graphics department chose a purple marker.

Through September, 2009 globally averaged temperatures have slightly risen less than 1/10th of 1°F (.094°F/.052°C) since Al Gore released his science fiction movie.  Al Gore can say a thank you prayer for “The Christ Child“, i.e. El Niño.  It should be noted that in the forty-five months since Al Gore released An Inconvenient Truth, September, 2009 is only the seventh month that globally averaged temperatures have exceeded the average temperature when Gore’s science fiction movie was released.

AIT Index 8_09Each month GORE LIED takes significant liberties with Dr. Roy Spencer’s monthly UAH globally averaged satellite-based temperature of the lower atmosphere. We mark it up with a red marker to more fully illustrate the really inconvenient truth – that temperatures have not risen as Al Gore had predicted when he released his science fiction movie, An Inconvenient Truth (AIT) at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2006.

Through June, 2009, globally averaged temperatures have largely flat-lined at +.08°F (.04°C) since AIT was released.

Here’s another way to interpret the same data:

In the 42 months since An Inconvenient Truth was released, globally averaged temperatures have been over what they were in January, 2006 in only five of those 42 months (including this month), but tellingly, the same temperatures have been below the globally averaged temperature in January, 2006 a total of 37 of those 42 months!

Even as the globally averaged temperatures have largely flat-lined as of this month’s latest data from Dr. Roy Spencer and Dr. John Christy, the divergence between the observed temperatures and the alarmist’s beloved computer models remains well below the IPCC’s most modest prediction.
